Stargazing in Tenerife – April 2026 Night Sky Guide from Mount Teide

Easter Holiday Sunset & Stargazing Tours with Night Skies Tenerife

April 2026 brings some of the most enjoyable stargazing conditions of the year in Teide National Park, Tenerife, with warmer evenings, crystal-clear skies and perfect Easter holiday dates for families visiting the Canary Islands.

From the high volcanic slopes of Mount Teide, far above the clouds and light pollution, you can see constellations, galaxies, zodiac signs, planets, meteor showers and changing moon phases with incredible clarity. With expert guides, powerful telescopes and unforgettable sunset views, April is one of the best months to experience a Night Skies Tenerife Sunset & Stargazing Tour.

Whether you are travelling with children during the Easter holidays, visiting as a couple, or simply looking for something unique to do in Tenerife, the night sky above Teide offers a true WOW-factor experience.

Why April is perfect for stargazing in Tenerife

April combines three things that make the night skies exceptional:

  • Stable spring weather
  • Low humidity at altitude
  • Comfortable temperatures after sunset

At over 2,000 metres above sea level, Teide National Park sits above the clouds, creating some of the clearest skies in the world. Tenerife is officially recognised as a Starlight Tourist Destination, and from here you can see up to 83 of the 88 recognised constellations.

During April 2026, visitors can enjoy early-evening constellations, late-night galaxies, and one of the best meteor showers of the spring.

One of the highlights of April is the Lyrid meteor shower, active in the second half of the month.

Best viewing dates in 2026: Around April 20–23

From the dark skies of Teide, you may see bright shooting stars streaking across the sky, especially after midnight.

Meteor showers are always popular with children, making April one of the best months for family stargazing tours.

Constellations visible from Mount Teide in April 2026

Early evening skies in April still feature some of winter’s brightest stars, while spring constellations dominate overhead.

Galaxies, star clusters and nebulae visible in April

April skies are perfect for deep-sky objects, especially with telescopes.

From Teide you may see:

  • The Beehive Cluster (M44) in Cancer
  • The Leo Triplet galaxies
  • The Andromeda Galaxy early in the evening
  • Globular clusters in Hercules (late night)
  • Open clusters across the Milky Way

With the powerful telescopes used on our tours, these objects appear as glowing clouds, star clusters or distant galaxies millions of light-years away.

For children and first-time stargazers, seeing another galaxy through a telescope is often the moment that makes the whole trip unforgettable.

Lunar Phases this April

  • Full Moon — Apr 8, 2026
Bright skies. Great for moon photography and dramatic landscapes, but limits faint stars.

  • Third Quarter Moon — Apr 15, 2026
As the moon wanes, later nights become ideal for exploring faint deep-sky objects without lunar glare.

  • New Moon (Best for Stargazing) — Apr 15, 2026
This new moon phase brings the darkest skies of the month — prime time to hunt galaxies, nebulae, and star clusters with binoculars or telescopes.

  • First Quarter Moon — Apr 1, 2026
The lunar crescent returns, offering dramatic shadows across the lunar surface visible through telescopes.

Wonderful evening star gazing.

Wonderfully memorable evening. The journey to pick up and drop off everyone was long for us due to our resort location - that was the only down side. The talks were engaging, and full of fascinating insights, and the overall experience felt genuinely special. Even though it was cold in the mountains, the team had thoughtfully provided coats for everyone, which made a big difference and kept the focus on the sky rather than the temperature.

One detail we really appreciated was that the photos they took were included in the price. It felt refreshingly honest and generous — no upselling, just part of the experience.

A brilliant night all round, and something we’d happily recommend to anyone curious about the stars.
